Initiated as an art dealership by Usha Mirchandani in the mid-eighties in Mumbai, the gallery was subsequently founded together with her daughter Ranjana Steinruecke under the banner The Fine Art Resource in Berlin, in 1997. 

In 2006, they launched Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke in Mumbai, where it today operates out of an impressive, expansive space in Ballard Estate. In 2024, a second space was established in Defence Colony in New Delhi.

With a three‑decade legacy that spans pioneering consultancy for international collections, a landmark Berlin gallery (1997–2003), and a programme foregrounding powerful, politically and environmentally engaged positions across media, Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke has established itself as a serious, discerning and trusted curatorial voice.
