ABUL HISHAM, Kama, 2016, watercolour, charcoal and pigment on rice paper pasted on hardboard, 20.5 x 26 cm / 8 x 10.2 in

Introduction

Abul Hisham's works manipulate characters he has seen and experienced in his social environment. Upon them he layers various inflections of positive and negative humanity its inevitability and horror. Collaging symbols of power through words, attire and expression, he takes these figures beyond realism, placing them on pedestals of hyperreal farce, stripping them of both their positions of power and humanity.
